Potato Cakes

I have bought some potato cakes from the bread aisle in Asda today and I am not sure how to serve them. They need grilling for a couple of minutes but are they in place of mash/boiled potatoes are do you use them in another way? TIA.

If they were in the bread aisle they are probably potato farls or potato bread because potato cakes would be refridgerated.
In Ireland they are served with a fried breakfast and generally would replace bread as opposed to potatoes in a meal iyswim

I loooove potato cakes!! I eat them with fried breakfast or just with a fried egg on top and a bit of ketchup!! Yum

I WOULD JUST HAVE ONE AS A SNACK WARM OR COLD IM NOT FUSSY.

Yum! I toast them (in the toaster ) and plonk a poached egg on top for a quick lunch.

Mmmmm .... 'tater cakes. I just grill them and have them with butter for a snack or with cheese for lunch.

Up here we call them tattie(potato) scones.
Wouldn't have them in place of mash/boiled, but lovely grilled with butter on.

Really good toasted/dry fried and in a bacon/sausage buttie

I did think about toasting them but thought they might get a bit messy. Mmm, melted cheese on top maybe?

Oh yes, definately melted cheese, possibly grilled tomatoes as well.

Just had toasted potato cake with cheese and scrambled egg. Yum! My DD wasn't keen but I am sure the boys will love them.
