Help - over-cooked Christmas cake!

Have slightly over-cooked the Christmas cake, resulting in dry edges and top. Have brandied it and wrapped it in greaseproof and foil (as per Delia's instructions) and plan on feeding it weekly from now until Christmas.
I guess the obvious solution is to cut off the edges and top before icing, but I just wondered if anyone had any other remedies? Thanks!

Nope, I think you've got the best idea! It will be covered in Marzipan anyway, it will just be a bit of a fiddle.

Store it in an airtight container with an apple.

It helps to keep it moist.

Remember to change the apple as it gets all dried and wrinkly.

Think you will have to trim it down a bit, cut off the worst bits , Ok you will have a smaller cake but best to lose the really bad bits, then keep moist until icing by what ever method you prefer.
