Can I be vegetarian when dh and dd are BIG meat lovers?

Has anyone managed this?

My husband does most of the cooking in this house and almost always cooks with red meat. My dd (2.6) loves meat. But I don't like it for both ethical and health reasons. I was veggie for 10 years, but started eating red meat like there was no tomorrow when pregnant (figured my body needed it so went with the flow ) Now I feel kind of stuck with it.

Would love to hear from any veggie mums or veggie families who have advice.

i'm veggie but DH is a BIG meat eater and he'd be mad if i tried to stop DS eating meat, which i would never do.

It works fine in our house. If were all eating then we do one meat chilli and one veg, for example, DS had meat one but if its just me an DS he'll eat veggie as it won't do him any harm.

oh god yes, do be veggie

If you are prepared to take on more of the cooking, I don't see why it shouldn't work. A lot of veggie meals can be accompanied with meat as an 'extra' (which your dh would have to do).

Red meat in excess really isn't a good idea healthwise, as you point out, so it would be worth cutting down on it at least in your dd's diet.

I'm veggie but my dh and dds aren't. So tonight for dinner we had macaroni cheese. The adults had it with hot paprika sprinkled on top before cooking. We all had grilled tomatoes and peas. My dh had lamb chops with his, dd1 had tuna and other dd had ham. I just had more macaroni than everyone else. It works out that dh has meat once a week, as I do most of the cooking.

You could have veggie burgers or an omelette with the same veg when he is cooking meat. If he makes spag bol, you could just have a tomato sauce with your pasta.
