Cheesey mash

I tried this last week as DH doesn't like plain mash but we couldn't taste the cheese - used mature cheddar. Should I have used more cheese or a different kind to actually taste the cheese in the mash?

More cheese I reckon and maybe a bit of butter/milk or cream. It's also nice with chives as well.

how much cheese did you put in?

NYceMummy · 01/11/2006 17:45

I used butter and milk plus a couple of handfuls of grated cheese.

Try a teaspoon of english mustard with a handful of grated cheese. It really brings out the taste of the cheese without overpowering you with mustard

I wouldn't recommend it, but dh puts in butter, a dollop of double cream, whole fat milk and a couple of handfuls of grated cheese, plus mustard salt and pepper. I don't let him cook often or we would have all had heart attacks by now.

Also a small tub of Philadelphia is nice. We have cheese and potato pie quite a bit and I am amazed how big the pile of cheese that hubby has grated is, and sometimes it still isn't very cheesey.
