EEK! Using butter papers instead of foil....

...as suggested on Twiglett's thread about roasting without foil.

DON'T if the 'papers' are from M&S butter.
My boned shoulder of lamb is now coated in a crisp melted shell of plastic.

I have cut off the whole outer layer of fat that it was covering but DP is still insisting I will poison us all. Shouls we be off to the chippy instead?

I'd absolutely eat it.

lulumama · 29/10/2006 17:33

unlikely the plastic itself will have melted through the fat and been absorbed into the meat......but still....bit chemically maybe??? have you tasted it??

CreepyCrawlyCarmenere · 29/10/2006 17:33

Id eat it iiwy

southeastastra · 29/10/2006 17:34

me too, if you've cut off most of the fat it shouldn't have gone through

Blu · 29/10/2006 19:42

We've eaten it!
I cut off all the fat and skin as soon as my domestic incompetence was discovered, and I thought that since most of the nasties in plastic are fat soluble, they wouldn't be allowee to use anyhting very toxic as a butter wrapper.
If it did taste funny, it couldn't be detected through the garlic stuffing!
