Never heard of one but it can be a cause of migraines/severe headaches in some people so may well be a correlation.

Apparently it can aggravate a known sleep disorder.

thanks very much samhainwitch.
We are trying to see if it is causing our DS to have bad dreams. I'm going to start keeping a log but last night he had Pizza Express's choc fudge cake (we were out to dinner for an end of half term treat) and he had a bad dream.
Also, my MIL takes him there when she treats him and I think he always has the same dessert and he certainly always has bad dreams on the night he is out with her. We put it down to having a late night but maybe it's the dessert.

Make sure you log everything he eats, not just chocolate or you won't get a true picture.

It could be that the chocolate is triggering a migraine in his sleep, which is showing itself as the dreams.

cheese is renowned for causing bad dreams

if ds grabs any of my brie without me noticing, he has terrible dreams

in fact, he can't have cheese in his evening meal (or anytime after lunch for a snack) without it causing him to have a troubled night

thanks for the info too foxinsocks because of course he would have had cheese on his pizza!

hi if i have any hot chocolate before bed i always get a bad headache around 3am. I suffered with migraines as a child and cheese, chocolate, coke and peanuts were the worst offenders also any fizzy drinks can cause migrains and also msg in lots of foods, also bananas were pretty bad
