bumping this good idea -

I am getting quite hungry just thinking about this. As you've said, the wide neck flasks open up lots of possibilities. Does the school provide a plate for the food once it is out of the flask?

Skribble · 23/10/2006 23:41

I have been looking for flasks like that, mind my kids will not be as adventurous. Perhaps spagetti hoops or mini sausages.

They are supposed to be getting school lunches so they get something hot but they normally have a cheese rool . School does great food but even the names put my two off, they are so boring.

KellyKrueger1978 · 23/10/2006 23:45

I would be worried about the food safety issues of keeping meat warm in a flask for several hours.
Mine do havea variety but all cold.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 24/10/2006 00:29

Dont think there's much to worry about with veggie sausages KK!

TBH - if the food is cooked thoroughly, and the flask is clean and then properly sealed, there shouldnt be a problem.

Sounds like an excellent idea LL

Blu · 24/10/2006 00:33

Blimey, LL - am I right I thinking you have a full time job and quite a few children? When on earth do you do all this food preparation? I am impressed and in awe!!

lemonysnickett · 24/10/2006 11:39

Blu- I want to second your praise for LL. I Just wish I could get an update on her career situation. Like (hint hint) via a CAT maybe, Lisa?!?!?!

KellyKrueger1978 · 24/10/2006 17:20

hmm, now I am gettign very tempted by the idea!

robinpud · 24/10/2006 17:35

This sounds lovely but I know none of the primaries around here allow children to take in flasks. They are not allowed to pour anything hot which is a shame but sadly I can see the potential risks. Glad your schools are not the same.

Oh fantastic. No one deserves it more! I'm so thrilled. Yes, I'm Uwila. Would love to hear more (if you are able to share of course) on uwila at hotmail co uk.

West London, huh? How far west? I work in Brentford/Chiswick. Are you anywhere near me?

Gobbledispook · 25/10/2006 09:33

can we have a link to these flasks?

foxinsocks · 25/10/2006 09:34

well done lisalisa - glad it's all sorted out

Blu · 25/10/2006 09:44

Excellent news LisaLisa - it is true, you are sounding so upbeat and confident.

Well done!

(DS has school lunches, so it's anot a challenge I have yet faced!)

ScummyMummy · 25/10/2006 09:54

Wow- well done LL. What great news.

I can't relate to your lunch ideas at all though, lovely as they sound. The day our boys started primary school was a wonderful one in this home not only because of our parental pride in our children's transition to big school but also because it meant that they could have school dinners and we would never ever ever ever ever ever have to have another argument about whose turn it was to make their packed lunches...

ludaloo · 25/10/2006 09:58

good lord...a meal in a flask... what a brainwave (I'd never of thought of that!)
What is a gltc flask???
Do they have to shake the food out???
Do you provide a plate?
ooooh my dd1 would love fish fingers....

geekgrrl · 25/10/2006 10:00

HumphreyComfrey · 25/10/2006 10:02
