Ooh MrsW, I have a slowcooker one as well, wasn't sure if that was what was required. Which book is yours from? (Actually now I think about it, mine's just the one from the user manual that came with the cooker!)

I make a pork and apple dish using one of the shcwarz (sp) packets - is called somerset pork.. fry the pork with onions lightly, make up the packet - instead of using water as recommended I use apple juice, put pork in dish, cover with mixture then tin foil and cook for about 45 mins, add apple and some single cream and cook for a further 20 minutes... very tasty and lovely with roast potatoes!!!

Mine is definitely from a book but I have no idea which one, as I borrowed it from a friend and copied all the relevant pages . This one has cider in, is it the same as yours Trib? Geordiemacminx, that sounds gorgeous (and much nicer than mine!)

It really is nice, I know its cheating a bit using a packet but if you use apple juice and cream as opposed to water as they recommend it tastes fantastic... think it is cider based? You can also put mushrooms or any other bits and pieces in..have used chicken before too for a non pork eater which worked just as well

i made a lovely pork and apple casserole in my slow cooker a week or two ago. pork was on special at tesco lol.

altho with the slow cooker i don't normally bother but this time i used flour and pan fried the pork first:

cube pork
put flour, paprika salt & pepper in sandwich bag and add pork. toss around till evenly covered.

pan fry the pork and some onion
put into slow cooker with some peeled chopped apple.

add half a can of cider and some garlic and a veggie stock cube if you like.

cook for about 6 hours! (hence the cider - it's all cooked off!)

just before you serve, stir in some creme fraiche.

i served it with some green beans and roast potatoes.

YUM!

Geordiemacminx, I tried your suggestion and it was absolutely bloody gorgeous. Even DS1 who usually says 'I don't like that' before tasting my food said it was lovely. So thanks very much.
