Beef in slow cooker- help!

I'm slow cooking a beef and ale pie filling for lunch tomorrow. Only issue is that i put it in the slow cooker at 5. If I want to cook it for 8 hours, I'll have to stay up until 1 which is not looking likely.

Will it be ok on low until 7 in the morning (14 hours cooking) or will the meat disintegrate?

Having MIL and SIL for lunch tomorrow for the first time and am eager to impress!

Take it out of the slow cooker and put it in a real oven at Gas 2 or about 140C. It'll be done in 3 hours and then you can chill it down overnight. If you cook it for 14 hours it will be overdone and tasteless

Have you got a timer up?

can you not just put it on when you go to bed and switch it off in morning.

I would expect it will be ok unless you have a slow cooker that is surprisingly quick and burns.

set an alarm and get up to switch off then go back to bed?

timer plug

Thanks for the replies- have recently moved house and haven't quite figured out the oven yet (it seems unpredictable!).

I may well just set an alarm and snooze on the couch until it's time to turn it off!

Starting to wish I had just bought a ready made pie!
