Fried onions...

or as they say in the catering trade..."cararmelised onions"

terramum · 16/10/2006 22:50

Beetroot

Wow, what a response - looks like the sausage night on my meal plan is going to have a different veg each time it's repeated then! I'd better find onion gravy in a recipe book then...

muma3 · 17/10/2006 12:52

got to be peas

popsycal · 17/10/2006 12:55

peas
without a doubt

nailpolish · 17/10/2006 12:56

yuk
peas are horrible

bangers and mash should be just that - no other veg (although sometimes i boil some carrotts with the potatoes and mash the 2 together)

and some onion gravy

MMM

At this time of year you can make a great green tomato hot chutney thing. It's a Delia recipe and basically you fry up onion, green pepper and green tomatoes with a bit of cumin and a pinch if chilli powder and then simmer for a bit. It's delicious and uses up any toms that are never going to ripen.

volcanoes, sausage mash fried onions and baked beans. big dollop of mash in the middle of the plate couple of sausages stuck into the sides and then spoon over fried onions and baked beans, gravy optionally, my kids love them!!
