Packable breakfast for toddlers?

Hi everyone,

I bet this has been done to death, but I'd appreciate any ideas! I've got 2 toddlers plus a 30 minute pre-breakfast commute to nursery and I'm looking for ideas for breakfast that I can pack the night before and take with us.

Do you mean for them to eat in the car or eat at nursery once there?
You could do an overnight soaked porridge with fruit coulis stirred in and raisins....they could eat that straight from the pots.
Or mini pancakes and a banana.

dry cereal and a sippy cup with milk? fruit smoothies? peanut butter and banana toasties.
mini omlettes made in a muffin pan, these are my favourite go to breakfast.

Bagels? I like a cinnamon and raisin one with peanut butter. Yum.

Thanks guys! Fruit smoothies are an idea... mini omelettes too, or pancakes also. It's for eating on the tram so a minimum of mess is a good idea :-)

Bagels we don't have here (we're in Switzerland) but they have nice baked goods... maybe have to start experimenting to see what they will eat! I'd love to do something with oats, they love oatcakes but I'm running out and can't get them here. Hrm...

Porridge bars, make your own.

I often have resorted to baby yoghurt and cereal pouches with a cereal bar or a croissant and a banana for dd2 (2) as she never wants to eat early and gets hungry on the school run.

I have just seen that recipe! It looks very good - actual porridge in a bar rather than a granola bar.

I do leftover porridge muffins, which my DC devour.

Cheese scones?
Multi veg mini muffins- my DGS loves these :)

I have made my porridge bars! Well, they are cooling just now.

Leftover porridge muffins?

Those veggie muffins look lovely. I could totally go for them myself!

Leftover porridge muffins are fab. Someone posted it on here awhile back and I am grateful Grin

Leftover porridge recipe. Uses up any porridge left from breakfast. I make it specifically for the muffins.

If you're not eating at home and you're eating on the tram, you want things minimum fuss and mess.

  • Banana
  • bake some breakfast type muffins to take with you
  • Organix cereal bars
  • flapjacks or oatcakes

I like the look if porridge bars and porridge muffins. How long do they keep for and can you freeze ?

whatsagoodusername · 16/01/2015 07:47

The muffins haven't lasted past a second morning in our house, but I think they would be all right a few days longer and would probably freeze well.
