i've just had to switch dd to a wheat free diet and have been able to find substitutes for most things but am at a complete loss for what to do for breadcrumbs to coat kievs?

she loves kievs and its about the only meat she eats so don't want to lose them from her diet, especially with the new restrictions but can't fot the life of me find any recipes on the net.

does any one have any ideas?

TIA

could you try polenta, or is corn a no-no? (i'm never very good with grains).

Orgran do some wheat free breadcrumbs.

Or let some gluten free bread dry out (should be easy it's pretty dry anyway) and then whizz in blender. Toasting these in the oven gives an even crispier result.

Or use instant polenta.

How old is she?

21 months, she seems to be ok with other grains, just wheat that causes problems.

i make bread for her with barley flour but the taste would be a bit wierd on kievs!

hadn't thought of polenta, sounds yummy! will give it a try, thanks

crushed up cornflakes?

Persist with normally cooked meat too. It's so much easier for you if she will eat plain food.

I use egg substititute made thick, and then coat chicken in a mixture of polenta, potato flour and soy flour and some herbs and spices and fry. It's my version of KFC, and it doesn't take any longer than getting in the car to buy some.

mmmm, that sounds lovely three bob!

she gets offered red meat and fish as well and since we cut out the wheat she's actually started eating them, which is a dramatic improvement. i just don't want her to have to stop eating all the food she likes so am trying to find close substitutes or manke my own wheat free versions of things.

We found once we had worked out all ds's allergies that he would eat other stuff. I think their appetite is better once they don't feel ill. He ate smoked fish (the non preservative colour free stuff) yesterday which amazed me.

I supposed you could do white fish in my batter, but I don't miss fish and chips so I haven't bothered!
