Cake baking - 2 questions

Hi - About to start planning DD's birthday cake. How big would it need to be to feed 30 kids?

Also wanted to check about freezing it. Does it need to be defrosted before I decorate it or can I ice it when it's frozen?

I have a heart shaped tin( would be 26 cms if round) that I used for my daughters birthday and it was just the right size for 30.
I would defrost before icing otheriwse the icing will get really soggy when the cake started to defrost.

If you want a recipe for a tried and tested cake that size I'll email it you if you like.

I think you can freeze them but not with icing on (both for sponge and fruit).

Am willing to be corrected on that though!

You shouldn't freeze iced cakes as when they thaw they will go soggy and disgusting looking!
