I normally do one with red wine and balsamic vinegar but fancy a change. Any good ones? Thanks.

I boil mine in orange juice and raisins - yummy!

Place marking. I need inspiration.

You've reminded me I've been meaning to try making red cabbage with apple. Just googled and got Delia's recipe, which looks good.

ouryve · 21/12/2014 22:37

I do the delia one, add a handful of cranberries and do it on the hob, since I have an induction hob which can cook very slowly. It would work well in a slow cooker.

Though this year, I'm buying some from M&S.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/12/2014 22:39

Yes, I'd read something about doing it with apple is meant to be good. Off to google the delis recipe. Thanks.

Delia recipe is the best; cooking apple and onion. Even ds eats it!

Longdistance · 21/12/2014 23:38

I just sauté it off in a pan with olive oil and ground black pepper. Always goes down a treat with everyone I serve it to.

Another vote for St Delia's recipe. Have it every Xmas.
It makes a vat, and freezes really well.

Threeplus1 · 21/12/2014 23:42

I use red wine, apples and a pinch of cloves and cinnamon and cook it long and slow yum!

emeline · 21/12/2014 23:47

Orange juice and vinegar and honey.

Like the idea of adding cranberries, might try that.

AliMonkey · 21/12/2014 23:52

Definitely Delia's. Made it yesterday and reminded myself just how lovely it was. Love the fact you can make red cabbage and freeze and if anything it tastes better reheated.

AwfulBeryl · 21/12/2014 23:58

I do mine with apple, raisins, cinnamon and red wine. a

catbus · 22/12/2014 00:05

I layer mine with the cabbage and cooking apple. Butter and white wine vinegar plus some mixed spices and brown sugar. Chuck in sultanas and bob's yer auntie.

catbus · 22/12/2014 00:05
