dd went to a friend's house for tea today.

They had
Fish fingers, chicken pieces, chips and tinned pasta shapes. Followed by a doughnut.

Absolutely no veg or fruit whatsoever. Not even beans ffs! Surely it could at least be offered? Just a teeny tiny cocktail tomato even?

FGS spit it out DG, what the hell are you asking me am I kidding about ??

Gobbledispook · 10/10/2006 20:24

I'm guessing because you were angry about the fruit shoot.

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2006 20:24

yes the fruit shoot thing. Good grief. get a grip woman!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/10/2006 20:26

Thats a bit harsh!

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 20:26

They set him mad.

He goes hyper, a friendly word along the lines of DS had a great time, but I am afraid Fruit Shoots do not agree with him.

NO offence offered, none taken, he has been there since and the child has been here since.

And the problem is .........................????

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2006 20:27

I would be cross if a friend gave ds a Fruit Shoot, he goes berserk (I mean very very unhappy) if given artificial sweeteners.

hairymclary · 10/10/2006 20:28

oh not another fruit shoot argument.

they're vile. I would complain if my ds was given one too.

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 20:28

Thanks FaZ, I do not consider it to be unreasonable.

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2006 20:29

It was a joke QV, LGJ, F&Z and all others who hate Fruit Shoots There should have been a after my get a grip woman comment. (Do you always travel in packs?)

Gobbledispook · 10/10/2006 20:29

Seems fair enough to me.

I gave one of ds's friends some smarties once as a treat after tea and he went loopy! His mum just laughed about it though - she wasn't angry - she'd not told me and I know her well enough to know she's not angsty about sweets on the odd occasion. Obviously I don't give smarties now! Even though you can get the 'no artificial' colours ones.

I tell my ILs that ds1 reacts to fruit shoots - he doesn't at all but they are full of crap and I don't like them given as the drink of choice as they are at my ILs (well, not anymore obviously!)

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 20:29

Only if Fruit Shoots are about.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2006 20:29

Yes 6 packs

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2006 20:30

Personally, I would complain if my child wasn't given a drink. And I can only hope and assume you always now tell parents feeding your children not to give them Fruit Shoots?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/10/2006 20:30

Because we all disagree with you?

Oh yes, of course

How about you get a grip?

oh and

Philomena · 10/10/2006 20:30

I was shocked to see Fruit Shoots on sale at my local hospital. The poster advertising them was right next to the healthy eating campaign poster.

iota · 10/10/2006 20:31

my ds's don't react to fruit shoots - does that make me lucky or unlucky?

Gobbledispook · 10/10/2006 20:32

Doesn't matter iota - lie about it, I do.

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 20:32

They get water here, and yes I do say water or extremely watered down juice please.

I resist the urge to say Tropicana for preference.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2006 20:32

Steady on, ladies

I think this is sorted out now, no?

hunkermunster · 10/10/2006 20:33

Oh blimey.

Chicken pieces and fishfingers in the same meal?

[breadcrumb alert]

Gobbledispook · 10/10/2006 20:35

Yeah, that's odd - why chicken and fish together?! Bizarre!

Mercy · 10/10/2006 20:36

iota, my dd has never reacted to a Fruit Shoot either.

But for how often she has one its neither here nor there. Which surely applies to most children?

bosscat · 10/10/2006 20:36

waitrose advertise fruit shoots on their opening home page. I expected more of waitrose

we bought ds1 a candy floss at the circus - oh shoot me jamie oliver it was the bloody circus - and he went BESERK. Ran into the ring. It was very embarrassing.

hunkermunster · 10/10/2006 20:36

I'm sniggering at [[breadcrumb alert] now

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2006 20:36

Perhaps it was a choice? I do that sometimes. TBH this poor mother sounds like me. I have a fear of feeding other people - terrified they will not like my food and not thick skinned enough to not care - so I rarely have kiddies to tea and when I do, I sound them out first as to what they like or make safe food like this meal.
