Chilli for 13

We are all ice skating, then come back to chilli in slow cooker.

How much should I cook?
I was planning a kilo of mince, 2 tins of kidney beans, 2 onions, 3 carrots, a pepper, 2 tins tomato, maybe some red lentils to pad it out

Served with Jackets, dips, Doritos, sausages for chilli haters and rolls.

A couple of desserts.

Is it enough.

My BIL is very greedy and will eat whatever is left, so it's always hard to judge if I've done enough!

I would double the beans and onions, use 3 peppers and leave out the carrot. Carrot in chilli? That's just wrong Grin

So 4 tins of beans and 4 onions? Wow. I've always put carrots in!
I may do some mixed beans to make it more interesting.

Well, that's what I'd do, I am queen of making a bit of meat go a long way.

If you have 13, I'd cater for 16 just to be safe and that only makes 1/4 a tin of beans and 1/4 onion each. That doesn't seem so much to me.

I didn't really think of it like that. Great, thanks.

You've got me thinking now. I'm basing that on one tin of beans and one onion when I cook for out family of four. That's about right, isn't it? It's always good to have leftover chilli in the freezer!

Do you reckon it's enough meat? I might go in the middle and do 3 of everything.

I think most recipes probably call for a higher % of meat but I wouldn't.
