What size turkey for 13 ?

I need to think about ordering a turkey for Christmas dinner. I am cooking for 13 adults/teens.

Any ideas what size I should get? I can ask the butcher but would like a general ball park figure first.

Extra hints and tips on feeding so many would also be helpful :)

Turkey crown might be an option then if space is an issue?

I have a new oven - so should be okay.

I do tend to like to have more than enough - may end up with a turkey AND a crown. Just to be on the safe side.

Have lots of big eaters in our family.

Generally you should reckon on 500g per person, as this allows for fat cooking out, bones etc and the all important leftovers! So for 13, I'd say between 6-7kg. A big bird but if you get your timings right, it can be out resting under foil while you do the potatoes, sausages, etc.

I have ordered from the butcher.

He suggested 7kg - so that sounds about right dairymo.
