Hello - I have (in a rather inebriated moment, I confess) invited the whole of the family to Christmas lunch this year......all 15 of them. So....having not (ever) fed this number of people at Christmas before I need some guidance please. Apparently I need a turkey that's about 9kgs - but how big is that in real terms - i.e. will it fit in my oven? The oven is standard size i think, about 40cm x 30cm....any ideas??

You'll be fine. The key is to plan it well as it takes 4-5 hours to roast.

For a 6.5kg the approx size is 37cm long and 20cm high, for each kg more add another 1 cm to each dimension. If you are worried you could always take legs off. Visit www.britishturkey.co.uk for cooking times though as they have a calculator on there.
