To go with chicken and leek pie and roasted baby squash, dark chocolate torte with sour cream for pud?

Is tomato soup a good or bad idea? Personally like the idea of soup....

Keep to something light - the rest of the menu sounds quite filling, so you don't want to overwhelm your guests with a big starter.

In keeping with the soup theme, maybe a light broth or gazpacho? Or a salad with a few leaves and some prawns or smoked fish?

thanks - I'm erring towards a light soup. I have stupid braces so a salad is a no no, otherwise I'd prob go for pear and gorgonzola and candied walnuts or something.

Maybe a tomato and burata salad? But does that go with "rustic" pie?
