What do you serve with chilli con carne to make a full meal?

If you serve with rice do you add a veg too?

Thanks.

Corn on the cob - seasonal now too!

CleanLinesSharpEdges · 04/11/2014 19:35

I usually dish it up with rice, guacamole, nachos smothered in melted cheese and garlic bread.

GinAndSonic · 04/11/2014 19:35

My chilli is usually full of veg, so i just serve it over rice with a dollop of sour cream and a mountain of spicy potato wedges when i have the PMT induced carb cravings

I forgot about corn on the cob. Yummy. I know whats for dinner tomorrow night!

Letthemtalk · 04/11/2014 19:37

Rice, soured cream and guacamole. No other veg

So much veg in it I don't think extras as a side is necessary - corn on the cob sounds quite nice though.
I love it on nachos, with garlic bread, or rice, sometimes with cheese Smile

It already has tomatoes and kidney beans, DH and I usually add celery and carrots to bulk it out a bit.

museumum · 04/11/2014 19:47

Mmmm corn on the cob is a good idea.
Guacamole has made me think - could I just add avocado on the side? (Looove avocado)

I put veg in it - peppers, onion, courgette, aubergine, etc.
I serve it with flour tortillas, sour cream, grated cheese and sometime s guacamole too.

ilovepowerhoop · 04/11/2014 19:50

we dont have a separate veg as there are loads of veg in it already

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/11/2014 19:51

Ours is always veggie chilli (!). We have it with homemade guac or mango or tomato salsa. Corn on the cob a great idea too.

ouryve · 04/11/2014 19:53

I normally make it so it's full of veg, anyhow.

But otherwise, I'd have it with sweetcorn or a massive pile of undressed salad as a nice contrast. Or possibly roasted butternut squash.

iwantgin · 04/11/2014 19:56

I always serve mine with some green veg in lieu of some of the rice to save on calories.

Broccoli or savoy cabbage work well.

Baked sweet potatoes nice with it, especially if they are loaded with soured cream, coriander and chopped red chilli.
