Beanburger recipes?

Struggling to make one which stays together and also tastes good like the one from Nandos

Anyone got a good recipe to share?

I use this:

one tin cannellini beans (sometimes I just wash baked beans!)
one tin kidney beans
one grated carrot
one garlic clove
half tsp paprika
half tsp cumin
one egg
plain flour

mash it all together and add flour until its a consistency you can mould in your hands, form burgers and roll in breadcrumbs. Either bake or fry gently with a spoon of oil.

I use this one but leave out the oats....i feel it would make them gluey.

i chuck in a few more bread crumbs, and a bit more sweet potato. Also have subbed in chick peas/random beans from cupboard. AND I roll the finished burger in breadcrumbs, again just because of the no oats thing.

I try to use seedy/granary bread though to make it all a bit more interesting.

I like a girl called jack's carrot, cumin and kidney bean burgers. I usually add a grated apple to them.

1 can kidney beans (I actually use dry beans...cooked)
1/2 red onion
1/2 red pepper
1/2 red chilli
fresh coriander
salt
black pepper
oregano
turmeric
olive oil

mash the beans with fork...mix it well with other ingredients...add a bit of olive oil, make burger shapes...fry them in olive oil on medium heat...
add some wonderful crunchy buns, lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, fav sauce and make some sweet potato oven chips...yummy :)

Back in the 80s, there was a packet mix that my Mum used to buy in whole food shops called 'Vegemix' or something similar, you added water and possibly a spoonful of oil and shaped it into burgers. It was lovely, but I haven't seen it for years, no idea who made it and Ive never found reference to it on Google.

Your recipes sound better though!

Mine is as follows

• 125g kidney beans or chickpeas, very well drained if using cans
• a heaped tablespoon rolled oats
• 1/2 carrot, grated
• 2 spring onions, finely chopped
• seasoning
• 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes
• chopped flat leaf parsley
• 1 egg

â?? Place all the dry ingredients in a small food processor and pulse until well blended
â?? Stir in the egg, then set aside the mixture for 30 minutes
â?? Form the mixture into patties and fry on both sides until golden

Kneequestion, I remember it well. Goodness knows what was in it, but it was made by Sosmix.

I second the kidney bean burgers from a girl called jack. I had them for my dinner tonight and they were delicious. They are much less fragile if you can make them in advance and chill in the fridge for a few hours.

I remember sosmix. I saw it in sainsbury recently.

Sosmix and burgamix are alive and well, and stocked by several health food shops and delicatessen-type places.

I don't have a favourite recipe so much as play it by ear and have some successes and some failures, but my top tips for good consistency is to keep an eye on the egg ratio - consider throwing in a second egg if one isn't providing enough stickiness, and always use a spoonful of strong bread flour to provide some gluten for structural integrity. Always allow the mixture to rest for at least 15 mins between mixing and cooking, and cook for longer on a medium heat rather than trying to rush it on a high heat.

I tried holland and barrett this week to find the burgermix stuff, couldn't find any. Just some stuff that looked to be some kind of fake meat that you reconstitute with water.

Will have to look in Sainsburys.

OMG! I just had a moment of clarity and remembered what it was called, I knew sosmix didn't sound right.

It was made by REALEAT and called simply 'veggie burger mix'

I googled that and found this page;
