If I've thrown away all my jar lids and I don't have any waxed paper, what do I put on the top?

Go out and buy some jam pot covers - the packet that contains waxed circles, cellophane tops, elastic bands, and sticky labels. My local shop sells a packet of about 25 for 99p.

I could always send you some TT if the PO fails (although the last place I lived was a village and the village PO had jam pot covers....)

Long live the rural Post Office, that'swhat I say! (Have covers, now need to persuade dd1 to de-stone theplums - it was her idea to make the jam!
