Making toad in the hole- how? Help!

Please help, I am craving toad in the hole...except I have no idea what I'm doing and google has offered me too many confusing recipes.
How do I make sure the sausages aren't under done?
What do I cook it in? A square tin?
Do you have a fail safe recipe please?
Thanks

Make the batter and leave to sit for 30 minutes
Preheat oven to 200 and put lard in the bottom of a shallow, rectangular pyrex dish
Put this in the oven so the fat is really hot
Brown sausages for 10 minutes or so

You now have to work really quickly as you can't let the fat cool. Take the pyrex out of the oven, add the sausages and the batter and bake for 40 minutes or so.

Eat with gravy and buttery veg.

try this one, I made it a few weeks ago after many stodgy results with other recipes, this one is a winner. It turns out I have been using far too much flour as also use the batter for yorkies that were the best I ever made- only 1 tblp flour per egg
