Ok so I spotted an offer in tesco last night and as a result I now have 2kg of lentils yay which I will use easily enough however I also have 2kg of chana dal. This I have no idea what to do with so I'm after recipes for fairly simple, not so spicy kids won't eat it , but tasty ideas. Have a fair array of spices, coconut milk and cream, plain soya yogurt, red Chili's, fresh ginger. Obviously It doesn't have to include these just saying I have them if your recipes call for themSmile

I've made this a couple of times. I tend to cook it for longer than it says but it's nice and not too spicy.

What could I use instead of the curry leaves? I have one of those frozen thai spice blend mix it's chilli lemon grass and ginger. Would that work?

Just leave the curry leaves out, and try it with the Thai blend thing. I usually make things up as I go along, but I did buy dried curry leaves from waitrose and they last for ages.

One thing I don't have is curry leaves so I will definitely get some!!!

I will report back how it went down. How long do you usually do it in the slow cooker for?

Well it was lovely thank you Smile

I'll have to try again with the curry leaves. I used a red chilli and not a whole one just in case it made it to spicy. Would again.like to try with extra chilli. I sautéed off the onion garlic chilli and spices rather than just bung in.

Made some flat breads to go with it. Was really tasty.

Glad you liked it, I find it a handy recipe because I can stick it on and leave it whilst I do other things.

It's one of my recipes that I make for us to take for lunch. I put half a bag of frozen microwave rice in the bottom of a sistema soup mug. Cover it with dhal or veg curry and then put fresh spinach leaves on the top and microwave it at work. Our own take on the innocent veg pots.

Funny you should say that. I contemplated putting spinach in it but decided against it because kids don't like spinach. But ill be having it tomorrow so will add then
