I seem to have lost the ability to make a nice fish pie
Has anyone got a good, easy recipe for me?

Two things I do - always use some kind of smoked fish and put wholegrain mustard in the sauce.

No specific recipe just poached fish, peas, egg, chives mustard and cheesy sauce topped with mash.

This is amazing. To make it less of a faff I have used instant mash, but I also substitute some of the fish with mixed seafood. The recipe looks harder than it is.

That's because there is NO such thing as a 'nice' fish pieGrin.

Although I have just made one for dh dinner tonight, it has Cod, salmon and some sort of smoked fish, with peas and a cheese sauce.

I will be having a nice cottage pie I made from the freezer.

I like the Jamie Oliver one that has peas stirred through the potato topping, and spinach and prawns in the sauce bit.

I always use a mix of white fish/ salmon and smoked haddock. If you poach the fish in milk,( add a bay leaf !) use the milk for the white sauce . I then flake the fish in the pie dish, add some prawns then some chopped up hard boiled eggs, then the white sauce. Mash on top !

agoodbook has my suggestions.
Don't forget to keep the white sauce super thick - it thins on cooking with fish liquid.
Under rather than over cook the fish when poaching.

Good ideas I am going to try again
Thanks

Smoked fish, prawns, capers, mustard, boiled eggs and cheesy mash topping.

I think those are the key ingredients in my mums amazing fish pie.
