Do you plan meals for the week ahead?

I absolutely have to, otherwise I'd spend far too much at hte superdoop and end up with loads of stuff that didn't go together.

At the end of my shop, I can usually be found peering into the basket counting the meals!

How can you NOT do this?!

I try to and use recipie books like Dinner lady for inspiration.
Also the magazine Love it has great recipies in it everyweek but the rest of the magazine is sh*t!

Am extrememly sad and my calendar has more info on what we're eating than any social engagements. Means I plan my shopping list for the week based on all the meals and on't buy stuff we're not going to eat. Helps keep to a budget (supposedly) tho have found fruit and veg incredibly expensive this year. Am i alone in thinking that?

I've turned abit to the German style since living here. They don't do big shops and just seem to buy what we need for a couple of days fresh - even if I buy fresh veg and fruit at the grocer shop it never keeps as long as the fresh stuff from UK. My sister buys fruit like apples, oranges and bananas for the kids packed lunch and the stuff is OK for over a week , here you're lucky if it lasts 4 days.
Must admit though, if I went back to the UK and got to do a "big" shop again I would be lost at first so I would do a 2 week meal plan.
