one of the highest allergenic fruits

I'd avoid until after a year at least

ledodgyrobespierre · 30/09/2006 12:24

I think the pips would be ok but do know kiwis have enzymes in them which make them allergenic so if there's a family history of allergies/excema etc I wouldn't bother.

Chandra · 30/09/2006 12:29

Highly allergenic, leave it for later please.

Mercy · 30/09/2006 12:31

And if you do give it to him when he's older, mash it up with some banana. It's too acidic otherwise. Great for consitpation though!

I would say no, quite a few people are allergic to kiwi, myself included (nothing else, just kiwi!)

themaskedposter · 30/09/2006 12:44

Well there you go!! I grew up on a Kiwi-fruit orchard and NEVER knew how allergenic they were! Mind you, I didn't really like them then. Do now though - typical really!

Chandra · 30/09/2006 18:40

Yeah, and I grew up in a country where you are advised to eat lots of nuts during pregnancy, peanuts are distributed freely at birthday parties and peanut allergy is still unheard of and... I have a peanut allergic child.
