what do i do with butter beans and are they what baked beans are made of. I brought them as my ds won't eat anything with a sauce in. Last night he had pasta bows with nothing on them. So what could i do with butter beans that doesn't involve a sauce?

baked beans are haricot beans I believe.

Butter beans on their own would be very bland IMO, maybe you could melt some cheese on them?

butter beans are bigger than baked beans but are lovely. I sometimes make this receipe which I adapted from a Yugoslav friend - it's part of their christmas dinner apparently. The proper version contains really stinky dried fish, so I left that out.

soak 2 cups (ish - for 4 people) butterbeans overnight, then boil for 2 hours (or whatever the packet says). If you are less hardcore, simply buy and drain a tin or two of them. Mix cooked butterbeans with some fresh rosemary , some olive oil and a little salt and pepper. You don't need much oil - just enough to lubricate the beans. then put in an oven tin and cover with a layer of grated smoked cheddar. You can use ordinary cheddar but smoked is nice. then bake for half an hour or so.

but anyway. you could try just giving him cooked butter beans with nothing on them: he might like them!
