I never make my own cake but I've been inspired by a thread. When do you make it though? you have to leave it for a few weeks don't you?

make?

we will probably do ours in a couple of weeks, just so we can get the best part of a bottle of brandy into it.

sooner the better, but still tastes nice if you do it a week or two beforehand.

I love making mine, it's so evocative of autumn/winter and the dark evenings which I love

I think I will have to move north if all this global warming continues, I am a natural winter person and hate all this bleedin' hot weather!!

We are moving at end of October though so what with the chaos and all I will have to do it in early November. Still plenty of 'feeding' time for the brandy!

glitterfairy · 29/09/2006 14:20

Last year I made mine and didnt eat it so am starting to feed it with brandy again and hoping it will be ok! I made it at a miserable time in my life and now am eating it at a good time. The thing about Christmas is it can be a time when ritual brings closure or reflection and for me this year it will be closure.
