Just making a pot of minestrone for dd 7months. It tastes quite sweet but it is quite plain. What can I add to jooj it up for her if anything. It has tomatos and every kind of veg in it & a bouqe garni.

HI Melsy - what about some basil for extra flavour or tomato puree to make richer? Or sprinkle some lightly grated cheese on top when serving?

You could try adding very small amounts of either soy sauce or tabasco (extremely small amounts of this), taste after each addition.

Hi Grommit
all good ideas , I added parmesan before serving.Bit of a distaster tonight!! Unfortunately dd didnt like it at all !!!. We pureed it & I think all the starch from the potatos and pasta made it all gluey as she retched and shook all through eating it. Poor little thing, she normally loves the food I make , but when I introduce new textures she shudders. Will be trying it again but with 2 cubes of this and more watery vegs and soy or something to take the glueiness away!!I did the same with chicken and now she likes chicken after all the shuddering at first. Dh and I have just done two trays full too!!

I would do as you say, just add it to other non starchy things, veg etc.... not much more you can do except learn from your lesson. I think we've all done this potato can be a funny one to puree, maybe next time puree the rest and try mashing the potato really well and adding it after. It has a strange glupy texture when pureed.
