Really skint until the summer wages comes in. Our family are vegetarian so I'm thinking it will save us a huge amount on food costs to start cooking Indian meals we already eat a lot of different dhals. Does anyone regularly use a blog which have many recipes from India or know of any good cook books from that region. I'm getting close to not being able to afford food, I've got the weekly shop down to about £30 for everything including household. Thanks.

We are veggie/vegan and I cook a lot of indian food.

try here Manjulas Kitchen
All veggie recipes, she follows the Jain diet which means no onion or garlic but get yourself some Asafoetida (amazing spice) as its a good replacement Smile

Also the recipe search here Mamtas Kitchen is good

Thank you both, really wonderful suggestions and I love asafoetida. I use it all the time. We love dhal Bukhara and kalmi vada and I've recently just started making more recipes with paneer. Very excited to try some more recipes. Thanks again.

Have you tried making your own paneer? It's so so easy to do and much cheaper than the shop bought stuff

Also my favourite curry is chickpea and potato - basically that, one red onion, a tin of chopped tomatoes and then a mix of spices. Really easy and so cheap, will make loads and keeps well
