How long to cook corn on the cob?

I have three large cobs which I want to boil. How long for???

8/10 mins - from memory that is

I usually boil for about 12 mins without salt which toughens it apparently. I'm sure someone will correct me though Loads of sea salt, fresh black pepper and butter once cooked. Delish!
