Storing stewed apple?

The apples are falling off my cooking apple tree (Charlotte Ballerina?) and we're not using them at the moment.

Can I stew them and keep them in (sterilised) jam jars? Also how long will they keep in the fridge once stewed? And as an alternative can I freeze them?

I've got enough Apple chutney in the freezer to get me through to next year. Frozen in plastic tubs, will decant into steralised jars when needed Smile

You can bottle apple in Kilner/le Parfait jars, but it does have a tendency to float to the top. Would save space in the freezer.

I just freeze them in plastic bags in usable portion sizes, much easier and saves sterilising etc.
