I was feeling so smug that I'd tried the STOCK and I was going to rest on my laurels for a bit...

Well, it's definitely a lot better than the last time I tried. Adding the garlic was good. What I found made a big difference was letting it concentrate which I hadn't done first time round (obvious thing to do maybe but it didn't occur to me!) It tasted so watery probably because it WAS too water IYSWIM. See what happens when I make soup with it.

So you think I should tackle sauces eh? Don't want to overreach myself. I can't even make decent gravy

Excellent - glad it turned out well! I bet you can make decent gravy.....and YES, time to tackle sauces! Once you have the hang of basic white sauce (dead easy, honest) it's only a matter of varying slightly to be able to produce cheese sauce, mustard sauce, parsley sauce etc. Go for it!!!
