Cooking potatoes in the oven

My hob has bust and I wanted to cook potatoes. I don't particularly want baked potatoes as they're quite small, but does anyone know whether you can roast potatoes from raw in the oven? I can bake them if necessary but would prefer not to. Thanks.

Do you have a microwave? You can steam them in there.

Steam the potatoes? I've not done that in the microwave. Put them in with a bit of water?

Yes, chop them up, put in a bowl and with some water and cook for a few minutes.

I roast new potato type size. Or make them into wedges. They're fine from raw.

You can cook toasties from raw just takes longer
Can also slice and make a potato bake with sauce

Oh, misread the bit about them being small. Normal sized potaotes are fine roast from raw. Maybe 10% less nice than parboiled first.

Oh that's great, thanks! Now dinner is sorted!

I put my potatoes in the microwave for 3 minutes before roasting.
I don't even add any water
If you have new potatoes you can roast them from raw. I just preheat the oil and then add the potatoes with a clove of garlic and a handful of dried herbs and freshly ground black pepper

I do chipped potatoes in the oven without par boiling all the time.
Cut them into smallish pieces (approx 3-4cm cubes) chuck them in roasting pan with a swish of olive oil. Mix them round so they are coated in the oil. Chuck in oven at about 200 degrees for 40mins or so (depending on oven) - yum

I thought of doing that, wonkylegs, but knew I'd be fuming if they weren't cooked! I'm starving now - will put them into the microwave for a couple of minutes in a compromise. Thanks, everyone.

Yes, sorry. I usually do for 4-5 mins if roasting with a little water and cover with cling film.

For just boiled potatoes I do for more like 8 mins.
