I followed Mary Berry to the letter.. ......it has cracked. Where did I go wrong!!

I did a Lorraine Pascale strawberry and Mascarpone Swiss roll the other day. She folds in a tablespoon of warm water before folding in the flour to prevent cracking. Worked perfectly and I'm a complete no nowt when it comes to baking!
