I use Farm Around (North)

this thread's been popping up every other day!

I'll give my usual recommendation for riverford. Great veg, and easy to manage online. I am an ex Abel and cole customer and would never go back.

not at all kelly. didn't mean it like that! but if you search previous messages over the last month you might get some other opinions.

I use sunnyfields which is based in hants.I have been very pleased with them.

Uwila · 26/09/2006 16:58

Another x- Abel and Cole gone to Riverford here. The quality and quantity of food from Riverford is better. And it is slightly cheaper. However, Abel and Cole have a much more flexible service. But two lots of back to back rotten peaches sent me packing a while ago...

I hear Tesco is going to jump on the veg box craze soon. I think I'll try them when they do, especially if the stuff comes prewashed.

I have just found one local to me if anyone is in Cumbria/Lancs borders?

Howbarrow organic Farm.

Haven't tried them yet though, what do you do with your boxes if you are not in when they are delivered?

Spidermama · 26/09/2006 20:16

I love Riverford. Devon based and they deliver to me in Brighton. I keep meaning to find a nearer one to cut down on food miles and keep it local, but the one I tried doesn't come close to R'ford standard.

CJinSussex · 26/09/2006 20:47

Our milkman started doing veg boxes from Swaddles Green Farm. It started off OK but during the winter 'seasonally available' involved way too much cabbage and turnip. The DCs are not big fans of winter veg and you can only hide so much in soup & casserole.

Our new school run passes a farm shop so I go there instead.

LiliLaTigresse · 26/09/2006 20:49

another vote for riverford, excellent quality and nice people too
I want to go and see the farm and eat at the little restaurant there!!!

KarenInLondon · 26/09/2006 20:51

Have you seen this blog , he certainly seems to like Riverford too!

RanToTheHills · 26/09/2006 20:53

if you're in London, definitely the best are Organic Delivery company.

PeachyClairHasBadHair · 26/09/2006 21:33

I'm all for riverford too. Dh grew up ion the Somerset Devon border anyhow so it feels local to him, and the extras are nice- had some fab rosemary a few weeks back; reminded me of my Mum's home grwon stuff, way superior to the supremarket variety.

And the delivery chap is a bit of a looker too

kellywellyboots · 26/09/2006 22:01

have ordered from riverford to try them out, but by sounds of it they are v good, so thanks.

spidermama - noticed this on my travels through webland. any good to you?
