Fruit taste funny all of sudden

I am nearly 30 wks PG and have got to take iron tablets - so of course have to step up my fruit intake

I had strawberries on Sunday and ended up chucking them as they tasted odd and plums today which also taste weird.

Is it me - or is there odd fruit about at the moment?

iron tablets are probably buggering up your digestive system! If you don't fancy wolfing down loads more fruit, you could always just have a spoon of fig syrup of whatever it's called!

Nope not the iron tablets as although I knew they were coming I only started them yesterday and have only had 1 anyway - as have the preggy forgetful brain.

when I went to the pharmacy for syrup of figs, recommended by a friend who is a nurse they refused to sell it me when they found out I was PG

how weird! is it just fruit?

I often find food tastes strange if I either have reflux or sinsusitis.

Have not noticed any weird tasting fruit round these parts

Could 'just' be being pregnant. I found my taste buds went a bit doolally and a lot of stuff I normally like tasted weird...and no iron tablets here...

Redlorry75 · 26/09/2006 10:55

Just found it strange as apples and pears still taste normal.

It is odd...all of a sudden strawberries tasted foul to me while i was pregnant (third trimester i think. The taste 'changed'. Tasted chemically iirc.

Yeah these tasted a bit bland - but also you know how bad they can smell in the fridge when they are ripe and delicious , well they tasted abit like that too.

The plums also tasted bland. I asked a colleague to try one and she said that although they were hard - which would normally mean they would taste a bit sharp, they tasted normal, if a bit bland.

Must be the PG

I noticed the same thing this year. I live in Canada and the watermelon, grapes, and cherries all have the same almost rotten or chemical taste…. And they’re not old either. They should be perfectly ripe and ready to eat. But they all have the same weird taste underlying..
