What is/would be on your monthly shopping list?

I'm keen to start doing a big monthly shop to get basics/essentials in so that we only need to pick up fresh stuff for meals on a weekly basis.

What is/would be on your list?

Pasta - lasagne and spaghetti plus at least one shape

Basmati and arborio rice

Passata

Red, green and puy lentils

Cans of chickpeas, kidney beans, butter beans, mixed beans, fishy things for dp and soup for dd2

Porridge oats

Honey, jam, Marmite and peanut butter

Coffee, tea, fizzy water, squash

Flour

Seeds for sprinkling on yoghurt

Frozen raspberries and blueberries

Lots more but the above would be essential.

Thanks everyone. Definitely some things here I hadn't thought of - especially wine! How could I forget that?

Good list above and
Tinned tomatoes
Depending on what your tastes are some frozen veggies (mine would be spinach sweet corn peas and potato röstis)
Maybe some tinned fruit
Noodles
Soy sauce
Olive and vegetable oil
Crackers
Part baked rolls/ciabatta/baguettes
Check spices salt and pepper boillion gravy granules etc if you use it
Oats
Nuts and dried fruit
Sugar
Yeast
Cocoa
Chocolate
I buy Uht milk for the cupboard, because I don't drink it so I never notice when it's running out, but the rest of my family do.
Ginger root and chillis for the freezer
Garlic
Household stuff toilet roll dishwasher tabs and cleaner washing up liquid toilet stuff and san pro
Some cheeses and hams have long shelf lives.
Mozzarella
I think a lot of frozen fish is really good.

I'd love to do this, but never do because we always end up travelling too much, but if I were I would arrange to have a little batch cook too at the start of the month and make a few mince dishes.

Then when you are picking up fresh stuff you have a bit of leeway to eat out of your freezer/fridge/store cupboard.

Are you planning this to save money, time or stress?

A combination of all those Tara. We've become really disorganised with shopping and cooking of late and I really want to get back on top of things. Nipping to the local shops for things we've forgotten soon add up.

Thanks for all the suggestions!
