Fruit Shoot H2O?

DTDs have just been to a party & the options for drinking were Classic fruit shoot, Fruit Shoot H20 or bottled water. They wouldn't go for water as all there friends had classic fruit shoots, but were happy with the H2O version.

This got me wondering, would a fruit shoot H2O actually be better than squash, which currently makes up about 30-50% of what they drink (remainder is water or milk).

What is a Fruit Shoot H2O ???

hana · 25/09/2006 14:04

I would have made my girls have the plain water
water doesn't need to be jazzed up really does it?
I didn't grow up with squash and never buy it , but they have it if we're at friends/drop in, toddler groups etc

mustrunmore · 25/09/2006 14:04

Still got crap in it! And ds1 doesn't beleive its a fruit shoot anyway. Cant really see the point; might aswell just have water really!

2plus2plus1 · 25/09/2006 14:04

Says on the bottle "spring water still drink. Natural Blackcurrant flavour".

Can also get apple & orange I think.

I'm presuming its all the usual crap without the colouring??

NotQuiteCockney · 25/09/2006 14:04

Oh, I think I've seen these - they're just fruit juice and water, if I remember correctly. In which case they're rip-offs, but not bad for kids really.

NomDePlume · 25/09/2006 14:05

I doubt it, tbh. Isn't Fruit Shoot H20 just clear fruit shoot ?

NotQuiteCockney · 25/09/2006 14:05

Oh, what are the ingredients? It's not the one I'm thinking of, cause that was really just juice and water.

auntymandy · 25/09/2006 14:05

not read ingredients

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 25/09/2006 14:05

Down there with all other shite drinks.

It doesn't bother me for party stuff. I expect them to eat crap at parties, that's life. Wouldn't have it in the house though.

Kelly1978 · 25/09/2006 14:06

never seen it before, but according to the website, it is spring water and natural juices, not flavourings or colourings so must be better.

Gobbledigook · 25/09/2006 14:06

No, aren't fruit shoot H2O full of crap just like fruit shoots. Have aspartame in I think. I wouldn't buy them.

WigWamBam · 25/09/2006 14:06

Dh bought dd a bottle at the weekend ... I was furious with him because he knows my opinion of Fruit Shoots. I have the bottle here and it contains

99.4% spring water
Citric Acid
Natural Flavourings (ie has never seen a blackcurrant in its life, despite the lovely picture of blackcurrants all over the label)
Sweeteners: Aspartame and Acesulfame K
Preservatives: Dimethyl Dicarbonate and potassium Sorbate.

So less than 1% crap ... but that's enough for me!

Gobbledigook · 25/09/2006 14:07

But wouldn't make a fuss at a party or someone's house. Would have just gone for the water in this case I think.

NomDePlume · 25/09/2006 14:07

H20 info

Gobbledigook · 25/09/2006 14:08

I just tell the kids sportacus won't drink it - works every time.

In fact, I gave mine pizza last night for tea and ds1 announced 'this is junk mummy'. Oops!

Piffle · 25/09/2006 14:08

sugar free
Is it artificially sweetened?

Gobbledigook · 25/09/2006 14:09

yep. never buy 'sugar free' stuff - usually means it's packed full of other crap in substitute

MrsSpoon · 25/09/2006 14:09

The majority of children I have witnessed 'kicking-off' recently seem to have had a Fruit Shoot in their hands at the time ...

sweetkitty · 25/09/2006 14:09

Now and again I allow DD1 to have a Fruit Shoot, it's difficult if another mum is handing them out all the other kids have them and I have to say no you can't have one.

Have you tasted the H20 ones though, they are horrid, really sweet and artificial tasting.

Usually we have watered down fruit juice.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/09/2006 14:10

Oops, yeah, I had it confused with something else. Definately gross.

2plus2plus1 · 25/09/2006 14:10

But would you rank it above or below squash?

OP posts:
Piffle · 25/09/2006 14:10

found this NOt mentioeed in Britvics blurb I note
it is articial sweeteners
F**cking cheek to say no artificial colours and flavours - then add sweeteners

ROBINSONS FRUIT SHOOT H2O: 99.4 per cent spring water with flavourings and sweeteners. The apple flavour was very strong and sweet. A bit less flavouring and sweetener and this could have been a decent drink

NotQuiteCockney · 25/09/2006 14:11

Worse than squash, if the squash was without artificial sweeteners.

NomDePlume · 25/09/2006 14:11

Isn't sweetener a flavouring though, in that it adds flavour ?
