sugar free cereals. Grape Nuts. Any others?

We also have Raisin Wheats quite a bit, but they do contain some added sugar (not much, tho). Trying to find healthy breakfasts for DCs. They don't mind Grape Nuts (which is the only sugar free one I've found that they like so far). Am I missing anything?

Shredded Wheat has no added sugar.

Os

Like Cheerios but without the cheeri bit!

Or porridge with banana mixed in

Just to clarify: do you want sugar free, or no added sugar.

beachyhead · 17/09/2014 16:00

My dc's love Grape Nuts, but add sugar, which completely misses the point Blush still I'm sure they don't add the quantity the manufacturer would.

Alsoflamingo · 17/09/2014 16:06

Ideally no added sugar. So if it has dried fruit in it, for instance, not worried about it. I do porridge sometimes, but don't always have time and not so popular on summer mornings.

Have never heard of Os…..

Annoyingly they aren't that into Shredded Wheat… Similarly with sugar free Alpen (tho may try it again).

Realise this is a tough one. Maybe just need to stick with G Nuts.

Basically pretty much all breakfast cereals are really bad for you I guess..

My kids love Alpha Bites by BEAR, they're sweetened with some sort of nectar so are no added sugar but not as plain as Alpen or plain porridge.

Cold porridge is a new revelation for us, it tends to be called refrigerator oats, or overnight oats online. I do banana and jam but there are loads of different possibilities Here for example

ElizabethMedora · 19/09/2014 13:58

The Alphabites are still 18% sugar, just coconut blossom nectar derived sugar.

We just have porridge most of the time, sometimes weetabix. Doves Farm do puffed rice cereals?

ElizabethMedora · 19/09/2014 13:59

sorry, not Doves Farm - Kallo Organic

Ooooo - that Kallo Organic stuff looks great. Will try it on the children and see if they take to it. Brilliant.

I don't like the no added sugar Alpen one, but I do like the version that Sainsburys do.

Other than that it's weetabix and Rice Krispies around here.

tb · 21/09/2014 17:53

Weetabix now has added sugar, or at least it does in France.

My very fussy DS2 makes his own muesli, so it only has the bits he likes in it.

Porridge Oats, sunflower & pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries (lots of sugar!) raisins, flaked almonds and usually a chopped apple on top. Sprinkled liberally with cinnamon, which he loves and which makes it taste sweet.
