At the moment he has the heinz pure juice which is already diluted and i dilute it further so he has it quite weak. he refuses water and because he has a severe constipation problem i would rather he had juice and got plenty of fluids rather than fight him to drink water. Now that he's drinking so much more i'd like to choose a slightly cheaper option and was thiking of buying apple juice and diluting it down but i'm not sure whether to get the freshly squeezed stuff from the chiller cabinets or is the stuff in cartons made from concerntrate ok? i'm not sure of the difference apart from the cartons working out cheaper. Any ideas would be great.

They're all pretty much of a muchness. Just make sure you get pure juice, and not 'juice drink'. Probably the fresher ones have got some more vitamins in them, but I doubt it's enough to make a real difference.

I prefer the juices without concentrate, added chemicals imo.But saying that there is a carton of apple from concentrate in the fridge. For a young baby I would buy copella apple or similar and dilute. It's then just squeezed apples your lo is getting.
The apple and elderflower one is fabulous.

It also is cheaper, the more you dilute it. And if you keep diluting, he will eventually just get used to water.

Other options:

  • health food stores sell organic juice concentrate (Crazy Jack?), which you can dilute loads and loads. It just goes in the cupboard, too.
  • my kids sometimes like cooled herbal tea.

Thanks for the replies i'm shopping tomorrow so will have a good browse. I would love him to accept water at least some off the time so will try to make it gradually weaker and weaker.
