Can I freeze buttered cheese scones?

I'm trying to reduce the sugar in DS's lunchbox. Now he's at secondary, my homemade efforts full of fruit and veg aren't the done thing apparently, but he loves a cheese scone. I know, not especially healthy but surely better than a penguin and a packet of crisps?

If I bake a batch, split and butter them, can I freeze then so he can have a "fresh" one in his box each day?

Does anyone have a great recipie?

Can't see why not: after all, people freeze cheese sarnies for the week ahead.

A touch of mustard, or grated onion in the mix goes down well here.
