What shall I bake to christen it? (Joint birthday and Christmas present from my DParents!) I've been looking at it for two days just admiring it and now think I might be ready to try it out but can't quite decide what to do first. Any great recipes / ideas welcome Grin

Why did you buy it then?Hmm

comebackstrong · 06/09/2014 07:29

Get the Nigella cook book 'Domestic Goddess'. She loves a Kitchen Aid and most of her recipes include using one!! Make the Autumnal cake…its AMAZING (and very fitting for this time of year!)

comebackstrong · 06/09/2014 07:29

There is always one with a pointless comment.

TheBatteriesHaveRunOut · 06/09/2014 07:35

lordnoobson she didn't
it was a gift

if you look very carefully, this information is hidden ever so cleverly in her OP

KillashandraRee - CAKE just CAAAAAAAKE! Like a big victoria sponge or fairy cakes.

It's relatively quick and you can eat it while decided what to do next Grin

KillashandraRee · 06/09/2014 07:58

Lordnoobsen Hmm why pee on my party it was a present!

I make my own bread by hand every day so am excited to try that but think a cake is definitely more exciting as the first product.

Am a huge fan of nigellas Victoria sponge so might try that one. DS 2.8 is thumbing through recipe books at the moment Smile

Cake with jam and layers and cream...I like cake a lot! I also have kitchen aid envy as I would love one.

Catsmamma · 06/09/2014 08:02

i'd make something that needed masses of whisking or beating....save me the bother...I don't have a mixer

...oooohhhh marshmallows!! :D

Mrsgrumble · 06/09/2014 08:03

lord must have woken up on the wrong side of bed Grin

Happy Birthday Flowers

KillashandraRee · 06/09/2014 08:08

Coffee and walnut. You haven't lived til you have had kitchen aid butter cream.

Oh and welcome to the club. I luvvvvvs mine!!!

Hollycopter · 06/09/2014 08:12

Meringue... I use Dan Leppard's recipe and leave it in for 15 mins at full speed, it comes out really well and is really effortless.

ItsNotEasyBeingGreen · 06/09/2014 08:14

So jealous. I want one. :(

I bet your cake will turn out perfect as if baked by angels. Kitchen aid angels with pistachio wings!

lk26 · 06/09/2014 08:15

Make a pavlova. I crave a red kitchen aid. Last year my OH said he would buy me one. I stupidly says no let's spend the money on the house. Doh. Now no money but a beautiful garage and roof :(((
Marshmallows look scrummy.

KillashandraRee · 06/09/2014 09:25

I now have a big list of things to make this weekend! I am going to get so fat Grin

Kitsmummy · 06/09/2014 09:31

Ooh, pistachio, that's the colour that I covet!

secretsquirrels · 06/09/2014 09:32

I would find out what the topic is on this week's GBBO and make that. Then you can eat it while watching Smile.

NewEraNewMindset · 06/09/2014 09:34

Jealousy at a guess Hmm

I plan on getting one when I eventually get our new kitchen fitted. I might just leave it on the counter to gaze at too. Quick call the kitchen appliance police!!

I think a cake is a fab idea.

Cereal0ffender · 06/09/2014 09:37

I find mixers beat the life out if cakes, I do all cakes by hand. I use the kitchen aid for bread dough or whisking.

Jemimapuddleduk · 06/09/2014 09:38

We just had good food American blueberry pancakes for breakfast using the kitchen aid. It's a Saturday morning staple at ours and everyone likes them! They are good with banana in too.

Lj8893 · 06/09/2014 09:40

Soooooo jealous!!!

me and dp want one so badly (me because its pretty, dp is a chef so he will be the one using it!) but we just cant afford it. Although he is waiting on an insurance payout after a bike accident so he may treat himself depending on how much he gets!

frogbubbles · 08/09/2014 06:40

I have kitchen aid envy!! I am dreaming of becoming the proud owner of a pastel blue beauty. Until then I shall have to make do with my next mixer.

You should definitely make marshmallows or meringue

SanityClause · 08/09/2014 07:02

If you haven't got one already, get the "flex edge" paddle. There's a silicone edge on it, which scrapes round the edge of the bowl, as you go - you don't need to use a spatula.

Anotheronesoon · 08/09/2014 07:09

Sounds lovely! I got a cream one as a wedding present three years ago and love it! It is one of my favorite things! I SOOO get the kitchen aid love- in fact when early pregnant with ds1 I had an argument with a colleague who said it was a waste of money so I told her she knew nothing about baking and burst into tears!!! Ha ha gotta love the hormones!
I would do a simple cake - it will take you about five minutes and then you can bask in the wonder of a lovely cake made in no time at all with hardly any washing up- yay! So wishing my low carb diet wasn't starting today!
