Apparently natural sugar is fine for our guest but I'd like to do something more exciting than fruit salad and cream. Any ideas?

Please don't use artificial sweeteners whatever you do. They taste horrible and some people have reactions to them.

Baked apples with cinnamon (and raisins if those are ok) with cream.

Pears poached in red wine, orange huice and spices.

99 or 100% cocoa solids chocolate melted into cream with strawberries to dip into it.

Fry halved figs in butter for a couple of minutes on the cut side until they caramelise. Spinkle with cinnamon.

Or just do a really fabulous cheeseboard with figs, grapes, nuts and apple slices, and serve a tiny square of 100% cocoa solids chocolate with coffee afterwards.

Oooo, thanks for the ideas. I wasn't even contemplating sweetners - yuck! But thanks for the warning anyway. I'm tempted by the figs...

Just to let you know that I served the figs (minus the cinnamon) with some créme frâiche that I'd added vanilla seeds to. It went down brilliantly. Thanks for the ideas!
