Shoulder of lamb in the slow cooker?

Just been shopping and dashed round with no list and no plan! :o

I've bought a carvery shoulder of lamb dated today at half price, not thinking of course that it'll take about 4 hours to cook. It's too late for cooking/eating today, I'm working for the rest of week so will be in too late to cook it in the evening to have hot that day.

Am I going to have to just cook it and eat it cold or rewarmed, or can I bung it in the slow cooker? If so, anyone have a good recipe? I'd like it quite plain as kids are fussy and it's a big piece of lamb for 2 people!

You mean a turkey? Really??

ha ha - no, well sort off.

I cook the Turkey on Christmas Eve and carve it. It means I have the bones for stock for soup and the juices to make my Gravy with no hassle on Christmas Day. Then, on Christmas day I put enough sliced turkey together with my gravy in the slow cooker on low and that frees up the oven for the roast potatoes etc and the timing of the meat isn't critical as it will be fine in the slow cooker for hours so it's ready whenever you are.

On boxing day, I put more turkey plus left over stuffing, chipolatas and veg in the slow cooker with more gravy, pop it on low and go visiting and we have a ready made meal when we get back. Left over mash goes in the microwave and left over roast tatties only take about 20 minutes in a hot oven to heat up and crisp up again. I enjoy that meal even more than Christmas day tbh.

yes, that does look nice :) I'd definitely get a lamb shoulder again -if it's half price-- :)
