Can anyone recommend a sugar thermometer. Nothing to expensive as will not use it often.

I got mine from John Lewis. This one:

Mine's similar, from Lakeland. Though can I say, you need to plunge it into hot soapy water as soon as you've finished with it and not let sugar, jam etc set on it, or else oyu end up scrubbing all the letters off.

Thanks for the replies. Will be passing lakelands later in the week so will pick one up then.

Good tip about washing it straight away. Would not have thought to do that.

Great idea. I will take a look at these. Thanks!

I watched that programme about making sweets last night, I am wondering if there will be a run on sugar thermometers now. Unfortunately I had put in a Lakeland order a day or two earlier, so will have to wait till next time.

I used an infrared one. Saves having to wash anything up!

And then I had a moment of inspiration! Just realised DH is out shopping in a town with a Lakeland in it, have phoned him up and asked him to get one. Thanks for posting this, I wouldn't have thought to do that otherwise.
