We have friends for dinner next week with the above requirements. There will be 4 adults eating. Almost everything we eat features sauce and spice! What can I make that won't be boring and won't go wrong? Ta!

I could make a quiche, but that's boring, right? And I think they are big fish/meat eaters (we are generally not).

Sausages, new potatoes, salad or veg?

Steak, potatoes and salad.

A nice big salad, with chicken or fish, and new potatoes, with dressing on the table for those who want it.

Roast chicken, carrot and sweed mash and roasted veg.

Fish baked in individual foil parcels, you can add seasoning wto all but two, rice and veg.

Chicken with sundried tomatoes and mozzarella wrapped in bacon, smashed potatoes and salad.

Homemade pizzas, wedges and salad.

Individual beef wellington, mash and veg.

They are some of the things I would cook.

Thanks - I'm thinking roast chicken with some buttered new pots and a few salads might work.

Summery Roast chicken is a good one. DSIS and DD2 aren't great ones for sauce and it's one of the things DM would do for us all.

Put out butter and mayo, so those of us who like spud salary can make it. Coleslaw goes really well with chicken too. (As does spicy rice salad or couscous on a different occasion)
