Buttercream for orange-flavoured cake?

Hello, I am making an orange flavoured sponge cake, to be filled with orange curd and buttercream, then covered with buttercream then iced with sugarpaste. The cake will be soaked with orange syrup.

Should I use orange buttercream or plain? That is the question. I think that orange buttercream will be overkill.

Over to you!

I'd use cream cheese frosting with orange zest in it and the orange curd.

Would cream cheese frosting work with sugarpaste? It needs to be sugarpaste - it is to be a decorated cake Grin

Sorry I didn't read that bit properly. It probably wouldn't work with sugarpaste, in that case I'd go plain buttercream.
