Hi All, Ive just been reading about Jamie Olivers comments on parents poor choice of food for packed lunches -I think the comment he made was half eaten macdonalds, redbull and crisps!
what do you think is this just for his new series starting monday or is it a real issue?
Certainly at my kids scholl there is no way the school would accept a child bringing in fizzy drinks or red bull but waht about the rest?

His programme should cause a stir if this is the case.

hello where have you been!

I work at an infant school and some of the lunchboxes (contents obviously, not the boxes!) are awful. I have seen cold burgers in buns, and cold chinese food, along with huge quantities of chocolate and as for some of the wonderful colours of pop! As long as it is bringing it to the attention of the public I think it's great.

on friday am, one of my year 11s said he really needed a redbull. Not exactly infants i know but still.

i think it is an issue!

in his last series he open some luchboxes, most were a sandwich (folded in half) with processed meat, a few chocolate bars (say a club and a breakaway) a packet of crisps and a can of pop.

thats awful!

no fruit! no salad! no pasta, raisin, fruit juice or water,

it really is sad,

if im being honest, this thing has really affected me, DS is 20 months, for a whil i lived with my parent and he ate mostly processed food, everyday,

since we got our own home he has frsh fruit, veg, salad EVERYDAY,

ive banned frozen chips, pizzas ect..

i do cook my own chips, potatoe, sweet potaoto or parsnips cut into strips roasted in the oven with olive oil - he loves them!!

i make my own pizzas for mys son, sauce (that i make blended tomatoes, onion, peppers carrots and tomatoes) on wholemeal pittas with cheese and toppings - ham, sweetcorn ect...

its a real issue with me at the moment, something im really passionate about!

kitty
